Great Britain - September, 2018

I expected to love London immediately, but it took some time for the city to reveal its charms.

First we had to contend with the long lines at Heathrow Airport, the rude men on the tube who just sat there blocking the aisle with their outstretched legs when we tried to pass, the tube itself which was old and outdated, the tube station which lacked elevators forcing us to lug our suitcases up the steep steps, and the terrifying drivers who raced through the busy streets blaring their horns and intimidating hapless pedestrians.

We were finally in London, a place I had dreamed of going all my life, but I was feeling irritable and unhappy. Fortunately, a visit to a nearby pub for a couple of pints lifted my spirits, and things would soon get much, much better.

This is Walt's hamburger accompanied by the always questionable looking British version of cole slaw.

I took a chance on a sandwich called hunter chicken. The brown sauce, which has a taste and texture similar to American steak sauce, can be found on British restaurant tables next to the ketchup.
